On mountain, the rescue is not free according to the law n°2002-276 from the 27th February 2002 : the cities can now charge the people rescued of a financial contribution for the expenses linked to a rescue after an accident while practicing a sport or any leisure.
For security reasons, the use of a helicopter is more and more spread , which considerably increases the rescue expenditure. The rescue costs are made by the ski stations. Additionnally, there are the expenses for the ambulance that takes you to the nearest hospital.
